Association for the Social Support of Youth - ARSIS
ARSISis a non governmental social organization for the support of youths. Its actions and programs are oriented in the defense of children's and youths' rights and the support of children and youths, who are confronted with conditions of marginalization and socioeconomic exclusion. Arsis was founded in 1992 and is operating in the following cities: Athens, Thessalonica, Volos, Larisa and Karditsa. The main aspects of our intervention are articulated upon
- psychological and social support and counseling
- employment counseling and training
- strengthening of youths citizenship through programs which facilitate their socialization and cultivate their creative expression
- cooperation with civil social agencies
Regarding trafficking of human beings Arsis is activated on the field since 1998. The concrete action of Arsis against human trafficking is realized in the following interventions:
- Detection of trafficked children
Street work is realized on a daily base by a group of social scientists focusing on the detection, approach and support of children who are identified as trafficked or in risk.
- Protection
Social, psychological and legal support and counseling is offered to children victims/ or at risk of exploitation. If a child is identified as victim of trafficking and until the process of repatriation is completed, the child is referred to appropriate shelters
- Social research
In the cases of trafficked children Arsis in collaboration with the Network of NGOs of Albania and within the legal frameworks for the protection of personal data is undertaking a social research for the tracing of child's family.
- Repatriation
The legal advisor of Arsis is fulfilling all the necessary legal procedures regarding the repatriation of the child in collaboration with the official state agencies
- Information and sensitization of public
- Promotion of collaboration with the official state agencies regarding identified good practices
- Research concerning the evolution and aspects of human trafficking in Greece
