ARCA-ROMANIAN FORUM FOR REFUGEES AND MIGRANTS
ARCA is a Romanian non-governmental and non-profit organization established in June 1998, of humanitarian and ecumenical character.ARCA aims to defend and promote the universal human rights, especially the rights of refugees, repatriates and other migrants (foreigners with tolerated status, victims of trafficking in human beings, undocumented migrants).
LONG TERM OBJECTIVES:
a. To promote and defend the rights of refugees, repatriates and other migrants (foreigners with tolerated status, victims of trafficking in human beings, undocumented migrants);
b. To support the social, professional, and spiritual fulfilment of those forced to live far from their home country;
c. To facilitate the cultural exchanges between the migrant and the host society;
d. To develop a network of organizations and institutions aiming to meet the needs of refugees and other migrants;
e. To support the reintegration of the repatriates.
AREAS OF EXPERTISE:
a. Integrated assistance provided to our beneficiaries;
b. Advocacy for the improvement of legislation and practice in the field of refugee/other categories of migrants integration;
c. Training (on refugee integration and counter trafficking issues);
d. Consultancy on refugee integration, naturalisation;
e. Monitoring of the legislation and practice in the field of refugees' integration/ trafficking in human beings;
f. Refugees' empowerment;
g. Extracurricular education for refugee and Romanian teenagers;
h. Migrant parents' education.
ARCA is a member of the following networks:
a. European Council for Refugees and Exiles-ECRE;
b. ECRE's Advocacy Network-ECRAN;
c. Churches Commission for Migrants in Europe-CCME;
d. Working Group Against Trafficking in Women;
e. COATNET - Christian Organisations Against Trafficking in Women;
f. Romanian National Alliance for Combating Discrimination - a network of NGO's initiated and coordinated by the National Council for Combating Discrimination;
g. Active Partners for Bucharest Network - a social services network of NGO's and public institutions.
